Kim McCarthy graduated with her Masters of Science in Audiology from Dalhousie University in 1997 and completed her Doctoral degree in Audiology from Salus University in October 2008. Kim is a SAC (Speech-Language and Audiology Canada ) certified audiologist and is a member of SAC, SHANS (Speech and hearing Association of Nova Scotia) and Sounds+.
Kim comes from a diverse clinical background. Her years of experience working in a hospital setting, in a private practice and for two major international hearing aid manufacturers has resulted in a superior level of knowledge on an number of topics, particularly amplification. Most recently, Kim was the Senior Trainer for a Danish hearing aid company and as such was responsible for travelling to Scandinavia to learn about new and exciting hearing instruments yet to be released to the market. She also provided product training to the Canadian division as well as audiologists throughout Canada.
Kim lives in Cow Bay with her husband and 2 children, and is excited at the prospect of being home with her family on a consistent basis after spending years traveling from coast to coast. “Although being at the forefront of new technology is exciting, you miss out on the direct patient contact. I am so enjoying learning about my patients’ lives, their needs, and helping them not only hear better but live better.”
Jenna MacKay graduated from Dalhousie University with her Master’s of Science in Audiology and prior to that received a bachelor’s degree with honours in Biochemistry Nutrition from Memorial University. She received the School of Human Communication Disorders award for Clinical Excellence and Professionalism in Audiology upon graduation. Jenna is a certified Audiologist and member of the Nova Scotia College of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada and Sounds+. She is also a board member for the Nova Scotia College of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology.
Jenna’s interests lie in promoting hearing health care and using the most up-to-date techniques to assess and treat the auditory system. Jenna is our tinnitus specialist as she is extensively trained in tinnitus management and counselling and practices Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. Jenna is very compassionate and dedicated to giving superior care that is individualized for each patient based on their communication and lifestyle needs.
Jenna was born and raised in Wellington N.S. and currently resides in Fall River with her husband, son and daughter. “I love that I am able to provide care to individuals in their home community. It is very important to have a clinic that is available to them on a full-time basis for when unexpected assistance is required”.
Angela Wright joined our Elmsdale clinic in 2016 after 13 years in the travel industry and brought with her many years of customer service experience.
Over the past 4 years Angela has learned a lot about hearing health care and hearing aids. She is always available to help patients when unexpected issues arise. Angela will greet you with a warm smile and friendly personality and looks forward to chatting with everyone who walks through the door.
Angela was born on the south shore of Nova Scotia and currently resides in Enfield with her husband and two step children. In her spare time she likes to travel to warm beaches and spends her summer camping.
Laura is the client service specialist in our Tantallon location. She grew up in Fletcher’s Lake and now resides in Halifax with her husband. She is very excited to be joining us and brings with her 6 years of customer service experience from working in the Airline industry.
Everything about the hearing industry is new to Laura but with her positive go getter attitude she looks forward to learning lots from the team and our patients. She will give you a big smile as soon as you walk through the front door and is always willing to help with your needs. Laura is friendly and can strike up a conversation with anyone, so feel free to stop in and see her. When Laura is not working she is spending her time with her family and friends.
